Vintage Design
A stunning set of 8 Swedish Grace dining chairs in the style of Axel-Einar Hjorth. Made in Sweden in the 1920s in solid oak with original black lacquer. The chairs are upholstered in light brown suede with decorative fringes and nails. British journalist Philip Morton Shand was first to use the term Swedish Modern to describe and underline the simple elegance of this golden decade in Swedish art & design. Refined pieces of furniture, simple lines enhanced by exquisite details and ancient motifs, all hand-made with extraordinary craftsmanship. Modernity, colour and the playful twists you will see are inspired by this period of design history that is often overlooked in favour of the Art Deco movement that was weeping through Europe at the same time. Very little has been documented about this era yet it is popular as ever before.
