Vintage Design
Delicate Bauhaus design classic in the form of a tubular steel armchair, designed in 1926/27 as model B4 by Marcel Breuer.
Breuer’s tubular steel designs, which combine beauty and functionality, can also be found in this model of the folding chair. Described in his documents at the time as an airy club chair for ships, gardens, cafes, sports fields and summer houses, this model is the further development of the Wassilychair, which also has a belt cover.
It ultimately only went into production in the mid-1970s under Tecta as the manufacturer and to the delight of Marcel Breuer,
now under the name D4.
In addition to the design itself, the version offered here impresses with its combination of nickel-plated steel tube and cowhide. In contrast to chrome, nickel plating is visually warmer and also authentic, as the slightly brighter, whiter/colder chrome only came onto the market around 1930. Thanks to the cowhide in white/brown/black, each model is unique.
It is marked Tecta on the frame. All straps, connections, leather parts are intact. Some hair/fur loss on the fur in places, but everything is basically fine. Good to very good condition, first hand. The cowhide was cleaned and the frame was freshly polished. The hooks on the back that hold the seat in place are of course both still there.
