80s wicker and bamboo chest of drawers

This plan cabinet comes from a well-known Berlin architects’ household, matching the extremely practical desk with a drawing function when the top is tilted. The plan cabinet is well made in terms of carpentry, the drawers run in slide rails made of solid beech. The overall impression of the cabinet is very good, the functions are given and the hard-wearing formica has only a slight patina of age. It must be emphasized that such well-preserved writing and drawing furniture from this time in a tasteful design and high-quality finish is very rarely offered.

with slight signs of wear. This unusual architectural furniture is simply color coordinated in shades of gray. All surfaces are covered with robust formica, which has withstood almost 60 years quite well. Only a few drawers have slight damage in the Formica at the corners, when closed they are barely visible. The sloping front of the drawers with an invisible handle bar from below is remarkable. The fronts of the drawers can be labeled. The internal dimensions of the drawers are 95 x 66 cm, making them suitable for paper formats up to and including A1.

Pretty, practical convertible furniture!

Either MEGA spacious shoe cupboard or linen cupboard – because the numerous shelves mounted in the doors are removable.

If necessary, they can also be adjusted in height – but the current arrangement is determined by small shelf holders and, of course, the height of the shelves in the wardrobe.

The TwoTone look is typical of the time, the carcase is darker, classic real wood veneer walnut, set off with light doors decorated with fine stripes. The veneer of the doors appears to be plastic with a wood look, is easy to clean and can be easily washed.

All in all, a practical, decorative piece of furniture.

However, its great practical use is also reflected in its condition: some clear signs of use, chipping in the veneer at corners and edges have been repaired.

Mid-century, vintage chest of drawers/tall dresser on spindle legs, made in France, circa 1960’s.

The piece is made of wood, with a teak-colored veneer finish with warm, golden hues, and a shiny, tiger-striped effect that will catch any eye in an entryway, bedroom, hallway or living room.

The front of the dresser features 6, chamfered drawers (rare to find), that all open and close properly and all have their original, pale-gold, colored knobs. The interior of each drawer is very clean; each one has its original shelving/ drawer paper, with some slight, older, traces of previous usage (see photos.)

The spindle legs, add height, elegance and lightness to the overall look of the piece. All 4 legs are removable, if needed.

Piece is in overall very good, original and vintage condition, with light marks, signs of age and previous usage commensurate with time, as well as patina of time, on the overall structure, top, edges, side panels, knobs and feet, as is expected for a piece of this age (see photos.) The top surface is smooth, with light traces of age and use and a patina of time. A mark on the top, right hand front edge (see photos with a 1 centime coin for perspective.) Small marks of time, on the lower left and right bottom edge and panel of the piece (see photos.) Some small lacks of veneer on the rear, back edge of the left side of the piece (see photos), as well as the bottom, rear edge of the left hand side (see photos), none of which affect the beauty or functionality of the piece.

The sleek, modern design of the dresser with its sharp-edged side panels, brings a dynamism and original look to the whole piece. It is stable, solid, sturdy and the drawers are all functional. It has only been gently cleaned and polished with respect to the original rich colors and patina.
