Long before the tiki craze hit its peak in the 1960s, Hawaiiana had already stormed the closets of suburbia. Thanks to the souvenirs brought back by servicemen stationed in Hawaii and the South Pacific, a lust for all things Polynesian saw the introduction of loud Hawaiian shirts into the wardrobes of otherwise subdued American men. With a Hawaiian fisherman motif on its front and a 12” hand-painted footprint on its back, this example ambiguously SHOUTS “relax.”

Turquoise short sleeved button front shirt with point collar and left breast pocket; horizontal rear yoke and Eisenhower pleats at shoulders. Hand-painted silver fisherman, shack and footprint motif on front and oversized 12” footprint on reverse. 4 pearlized gray button front closure with hidden button and loop at throat; unlined.

Just the ticket for your summer in the South of France (along with espadrilles and a friend with a yacht). We love it with a cardigan slung over the shoulders, but try the skirt layered over knee-length pedal pushers for a modern hostess ensemble.

2-piece bustier and circle skirt ensemble of buttercup yellow crochet. Bustier features sweetheart bust with flexible boning at front, back and sides; 2 ¾” crochet ruffle trim around top. Back closure of 6 brassiere-style hooks and eyes; hanging loops. Lined in yellow acetate. Massive circle skirt features side snap closure and hook and eye at waistband; waistband lined in yellow acetate, but skirt is unlined*.
